Hey Hunters! This article will show you how to tackle (pun intended) all of Kanya’s fishing quests in Monster Hunter Wilds.

So, who’s Kanya? She’s this fishing-obsessed NPC chilling at the Scarlet Forest Base Camp, and she’s got a whole questline that’ll test fishing skills. To complete all her side missions, you’ll have to catch four specific aquatic life: the Goldenfish, Gravid Bowfin, Whopper, and Grand Escunite.

GoldenFish

First up, the Goldenfish. Head over to the Scarlet Forest for this one, Area 6: Flowering Rocks Camp. Head left into the cave and you’ll be able to grab a Goldenfish from the pool there using the Golden Bughead bait. There are also a few collectibles in the water as well! Another option is the Area 8: Underground Lake Campsite in the Scarlet Forest. This area offers more rare collectibles and the Grand Escunite, so we’ll be back there later!

Gravid Bowfin

Next, the Gravid Bowfin. This one’s a bit trickier, because you need to jig the rod a bit to attract the fish, then finesse the rod left and right to hook him! Head over to the Wayward Plains, Area 13: Oasis campsite, but make sure it’s daytime. I recommend restint in the tent until Morning if you’re having a hard time finding the Gravid Bowfin. You also want the Plenty season. When you find this peachy colored fish, use the Emerald Jitterbait lure, and be patient. Move the left stick in a circular motion to attract the fish, then left and right to hook him.

The Whopper!

For the third mission, we need to catch a Whopper! This one will take some skills to reel it in. Head over to the Scarlet Forest Area 17: Great Lake Shore campsite and jump down to the shoreline. Be on the lookout for HUGE fish. There are a few different varieties, so keep your eyes peeled. I show off 2 of the Whopper fish in my video. You don’t need a special lure for this one, I caught both with the Common Wood Minnow. To attract the Whopper to your lure, you’ll need to do a circular motion with your left stick, then move it left and right. Once he’d hooked with right trigger, follow his path to not break the line. Once the fish is exhausted, reel him in with circular motions on the left stick. If he jumps out of the water, use right trigger to restrain him. And that’s it! You caught a Whopper.

Grand Escunite

Finally, the Grand Escunite. This shiny squid-looking beauty is Kanya’s final quest. Head back to the Scarlet Forest, Area 8: Underground Lake Campsite. Keep your eyes peeled for a triangular shaped bright shiny fish in the first pool, or swim across to the other pool in the back. Make sure to equip the Tentacle Jig bait.
